English Curriculum

The English curriculum also follows the standards of the federal state of Baden Württemberg. However, because much of the students’ day is taught in English, the students achieve most of the goals from the state curriculum for grades 1-4 already in 1st and 2nd grades.

Therefore, the curriculum is supplemented with resources from native English schools.  The students use a combination of the McGraw-Hill Literacy Program, the online reading program, Reading A-Z and teacher created materials with cross-curricular themes from Science, History and Geography.

This method of teaching students allows the students to acquire English literacy skills at nearly the same rate as they acquire their mother language literacy.  It also provides a much deeper understanding of themes and large vocabulary, which exceeds the requirements of the Baden-Württemberg curriculum.
