In September 2016 we opened our secondary school. Since 2019 our Josef-Schwarz comprehensive school is a state-approved school.
Our offer is aimed both at our primary school students and children from other primary schools. We are guided by the following principles:
The character of our school is defined by a cosmopolitan attitude, teachers from many different countries and an inspiring, international curriculum. As in most schools around the world, our students continue to learn together after primary school. At JSS students may obtain the school leaving certificates according to the three levels that are typical for the German school system: Werkrealschule, Realschule and Gymnasium.
The teachers of our school come from Germany and abroad. In this way we continue the bilingual learning of the primary school, which is embedded in an intercultural context. German and English are equal learning and colloquial languages. At secondary level, about half of the lessons take place in English.
Teaching in all subjects always takes place at Gymnasium level. The upper school (sixth form), in which students prepare for the Abitur examinations, is a key aspect of the school concept. In addition to the Abitur, we will offer an international qualification. Our upper secondary school will open on the Neckarbogen in Heilbronn in the school year 2022.
The school curriculum focuses mainly on modern foreign languages (English, Spanish and French) and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Thus we combine language competence with subject competence and enable our students to learn at the highest level.
We approach learning from the perspective of children and young people and aim to give them the tools they need to achieve success in life. This is why we not only promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but also the personality formation of our students. Our teachers guide the students step by step to organize themselves, to form their own opinions and to deal with big and small challenges of everyday life.
