The focus on STEM

The school has been honoured as a STEM-friendly school, a nationwide distinction awarded by the German Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.

To achieve this honour, the Josef-Schwarz-Schule has proven pedagogic excellence in all fields related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Our primary school in Erlenbach is equipped with small research labs that are shared between two classes each. Every month, different experiments are carried out that are related to the current topic; the children receive instructions that allow them to work on these projects in small groups or individually.

In addition, our students receive one more hour of mathematics instruction each week than is prescribed by the curriculum.

Our afternoon clubs constitute another building block in our STEM section. A wide spectrum of resources is available to the children: from robotics technology at the LEGO education lab to clubs in the experimental kitchen and even visits to the research laboratory by our cooperative partners in Heilbronn, Experimenta.
